Getting Started - Minimum Requirements

FloristWare can run on most computers and is cross-platform, meaning that you can run it on any single, or combination of PC or MAC computers you may already have.

The following is the minimum requirements that your computer(s), network and printers must meet.  It is for your benefit that you have a machine that runs as efficiently as possible each and every day.

FloristWare

1. ANY computer (machine) running Windows XP, Vista or 7; or MAC

  • Updated with the latest Service Packs, Printer Drivers, and Java
  • We do NOT recommend an actual Server-type machine

2. High Speed Internet

  • Wired LAN (Local Area Network)
  • Wireless not supported and should be used at users own risk

3. Hard Drive

  • 50 GB Free Space (minimum)

4. RAM (Memory)

  • 1 GB (2+ GB preferred)

5. Printers

  • Laser Printer(s) - for single users
  • Network Laser Printer(s) - for multi-license users
  • Printers must be installed directly in Windows, Shared Printers are not compatible
  • Receipt Slip Printers (Optional) – prints locally only to those machines connected directly to Receipt Slip Printers

If you print Enclosure Cards at least one of the paper trays must be able to adjust to hold 4.25” x 11” cards.  Some models of printers are not compatible because they do not allow you to use/specify a Manual Feed/Multi-Purpose Tray for card printing.

6. Options

  • Cash Drawers – connected locally via USB/Serial/Parallel; or connected to Receipt Slip Printer (in most cases)
  • Card Swipers – connected locally via USB/Serial/Parallel; or connected to Keyboard (in most cases)
  • Bar Code Readers -connected locally via USB/Serial/Parallel

7. Protection & Updates

  • Anti Virus software set to run scans automatically on a weekly basis
  • Firewall - as provided in Operating System, or other third-party software
  • Updates (Windows & MAC) - Operating System, Printers and java.com
